20. Early settlers played games such as cards or wooden dice. Children played with wooden hobby horses, and played games with a stick and ball and a hoop and stick. They also played tag. 

 

But everyone had to work in early times, even children! Children helped with planting crops, feeding animals, and cooking and cleaning. Games were played after the work was done.  

Settlers during colonial times didn't have a lot of books. Mostly they read the bible and books about manners. They also read stories such as Aesop's Fables.
